Plantar Warts

A plantar wart is an infection on the bottom of the foot that can grow up to an inch or more across, occurring alone or clustered together with other warts.

Warts may look similar to calluses or corns, and can appear spongy, with tiny red, brown or black spots. They can persist for years and recur in the same spot on the foot. A plantar wart can become painful if left untreated.

The virus causing warts is contagious and infection can be prevented by avoiding going barefoot in public places like showers, gyms and locker rooms, as warts spread easily in moist settings.
